Gerard graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in Ann Arbor and holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Ferris State University.

He was invited to present a poster of his MSN project work focused on Clinical Decision Support at the Showcase of Scholarship for Sigma Theta Tau, Kappa Epsilon Chapter in 2015. Gerard has also provided in-service workshops at Cedar Point Live Entertainment focused on occupational health issues for theater performers.

In addition to his nursing work, Gerard has performed onstage as a professional actor in the North American Company of the musical Miss Saigon and touring productions of the children’s show Sesame Street Live.
